Minimum qualifications
Østfold University College (HiØ) requires the following basic qualifications for permanent employment in teaching and research positions:
- completed studies in practical university college pedagogy or equivalent (minimum 200 hours)
- course in forms of digital teaching (minimum 50 hours)
If you do not fulfil the requirement for educational qualifications, your employment will be provisional for up to two years from accession, cf. board decision 49/19. The university college offers a course of study in practical university college pedagogy and digital teaching forms.
Associate professor
The regulation requires: Completed own programme (minimum 200 hours)/relevant courses and own practical instruction, and acquired basic skills in planning, implementation, evaluation and development of teaching and guidance (basic qualifications for teaching and guidance at university and university college level).
Documentation: The educational qualifications shall be documented in a pedagogy folder. Examples of such documentation include:
- documentation of completed courses in university and university college pedagogy, other pedagogical education and/or courses in forms of digital learning
- description of teaching experience and the use of various teaching and assessment forms, including forms of digital learning
- description of experience developing curricula, course descriptions and/or own teaching with particular emphasis on learning outcomes
- description of your experience of guiding students, individually and in groups
- description of how you use evaluations to develop and improve your own teaching and guidance
- reflections on own teaching and guidance
Professor
The regulation requires: In addition to the requirements for basic qualifications for teaching and guidance at university and university college level specified for the position as associate professor, documentation shall be provided for:
- quality development in own teaching and guidance over time
- broad experience with guidance, preferably at master/PhD level
- participation in the development of educational quality in the professional community
Documentation: The educational qualifications shall be documented in a pedagogy folder. Examples of such documentation include:
- documentation of completed courses in university and university college pedagogy, other pedagogical education and/or courses in forms of digital learning
- description of your experience with the use of various forms of teaching and assessment, including digital, for the purposes of increasing the students' learning outcomes
- description of how you use feedback to improve and develop study programmes, subjects, and/or own teaching and guidance
- documentation of broad guidance experience, preferably at master's and doctoral level
- collegial guidance and sharing of learning
- documentation of management and/or development of study programmes
- participation in internal/national/international forums contributing to the development of educational quality and of one’s own education practices and content
- reflections on own teaching and guidance
