About the war in Ukraine

It has been 24 hours since we woke up to the news that the war had come to Europe, that Ukraine is under attack. The situation is serious, frightening and demanding for most of us. But my thoughts first go to employees and students who are affected, and not least to the Ukrainian population and our partners in Ukraine, says Rector Lars-Petter Jelsness-Jørgensen.

After analyzing the situation yesterday, it does not appear that we have exchange students from Ukraine at the moment, but we do have students from neighboring countries Romania, Poland and Russia. There are no students from HiØ who have traveled on exchange to Ukraine at the moment. On the other hand, we may have other students who are directly affected without having a complete overview, and we know that several of our staff are affected. (Update -  we have one student from Ukraine as an ordinary student at one of our programs).

As rector, I want us to do everything we can to take care of our staff and students who are directly affected by the war. In addition, it is important that we also take care of those in our community who experience the news images as particularly demanding, and those who struggle with fear and anxiety.
